PGA Captain Parnel Reilly

Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Captain Parnell Reilly

Parnell Reilly, golf professional at Culture and Leisure Service’s Bradley Park Golf Course, is the current Captain of the PGA (Professional Golfers Association). His two-year stint started in April with a trip to the US Masters at Augusta in Georgia.

Only the fourth professional from a municipal club to be honoured with the role - the last being 34 years ago - Parnell (57) said he was "gobsmacked" to receive one of golf's highest accolades.

Parnell, who held the role of Vice-Captain for two years from April 2005 before taking over as PGA Captain this year, said it was a huge honour for him and for Bradley Park where he has been club golf professional for 25 years and which is recognised as one of the top municipal set-ups in the country.

As Captain, Huddersfield-born Parnell is the figurehead for 7000 golf professionals working in 54 countries and will be a guest of honour at all the major golf events.
